Overview

The Licensing Division of Victoria Police require this program to be completed prior to renewal of a crowd controller's licence.

The aim of the Certificate III in Security Operations (Crowd Controller Licensing Renewal) program is to further develop a student’s proficiency in providing operational security services including responding to security risk situations, maintaining safety, leading teams and preparing and presenting security documentation and reports.

With the successful completion of Certificate III in Security Operations, course participants can seek employment in higher level operational security positions.

Delivery

The course is presented in line with adult learning principles incorporating structured tutorials, interactive workshops, case studies, video, practical assignments and workplace application. Individual and group work is conducted during the program.

*The Australian Institute of Public Safety offers these units in their entry level licensing course for crowd controllers and security guards.

If you have completed this course with the Insitute you will be entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning for those units completed.

Duration

The course comprises of a blended delivery approach incorporating both classroom attendance and home/workplace application.

Attendance at the Institute is as follows, however Recognition of Prior Learning is applicable

2 days full attendance for Certificate III in Security Operations units;
2 days first aid; and
2 days defensive techniques.

Presenters

Course presenters are all recognised industry experts holding relevant experience and training qualifications. They include security industry specialists, former and current serving police officers, lawyers, OH&S practitioners and organisational development consultants.

Prerequisites

Students must have completed Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 or have applied for RPL for previous qualifications completed. It is recommended that the particpant has held a Crowd Control licence for more than 6 months.
