| Overview |
Successful completion of this course will
satisfy licensing training requirements for a combined security
guard/crowd control licence.
The aim of the Certificate II course is to develop a student’s
proficiency in providing operational security services including
crowd control and security guarding duties. Key content of
the program includes law relevant to the security industry,
customer service, teamwork, communication skills, and managing
intoxicated persons, reporting security incidents, occupational
health and safety, giving evidence in court and emergency
procedures.

The Security Industry is a rapidly expanding
profession providing exciting and challenging opportunities
in a variety of areas. Successful completion of this course
will enable participants to work in operational areas of security
such as mobile patrols, static guard, retail, cash in transit,
monitoring, aviation, casinos, hotels and nightclubs and major
events.

The course is presented in line with adult
learning principles incorporating structured tutorials, interactive
workshops, case studies, video, practical assignments and
workplace application. Individual and group work is conducted
throughout the course.

*These units are not required for entry level licensing but
must be completed prior to 2year licence renewal.

| Duration |
The qualification is completed by attending
full-time for 7days at the Institute.
For those participants who are completing the OPTIONAL defensive
techniques training program an additional 2 days attendance
is required.

| Presenters |
Course presenters are all recognised industry
experts holding relevant experience and training qualifications.
They include security industry specialists, former and currently
serving police officers, lawyers, OH&S practitioners and
organisational development consultants.

| Prerequisites |
Students must possess reasonable literacy
and numeracy skills with a sound grasp of spoken English.
The Institute provides support for language and literacy for
participants who require it.
Security licensing also requires a relatively clear criminal
record - where in doubt ring AIPS before enrolling or contact
