The aim of this module is to develop a
student’s competence in maintaining or restoring breathing
and circulation in an adult, child or infant. This includes
the ability to respond in the first few minutes to a life-threatening
situation, conducting casualty assessment and performing basic
life support functions until medical assistance arrives.
Job Prospects
This course is not directly linked to career planning
and is considered an emergency management and personal development program.
This qualification satisfies the requirements of many employers where
cardio pulmonary resuscitation skills are a pre-requisite or requirement
for employment.
Delivery
The course is presented in line with adult learning
principles including structured tutorial, in class practical exercises
and assessment. The course is competency based and matched to specific
learning outcomes contained within nationally recognised training qualifications
for cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
Instructors are all recognised industry professionals
holding relevant experience and training qualifications. They include
former paramedics, ambulance personnel and first aid trainers.
Prerequisites
Students must possess reasonable literacy
and numeracy skills with a sound grasp of spoken English.
