| Applicants may be granted credit for
some subjects in the graduate programs because of subjects
completed at another tertiary institution, in either an
undergraduate degree or graduate program. If credit is granted,
students will be exempt from studying those subjects. Credits
are considered on a case by case basis, after enrolment,
by the Institute's Credit Transfer Committee.
There is no direct articulation; credit is based on:
- the subjects studied in the previous course,
- the detailed content of those subjects,
- the marks received by the student in those subjects,
and
- the level of the course eg: Undergraduate degree or
graduate/post-graduate program.
The maximum credit which may be granted is 50% of the subjects
in any of the graduate programs.
Please note that credit/exemptions for relevant work experience
is NOT granted. Work/professional experience can be used
as a means of gaining entry into the programs, but will
not satisfy the requirements of the subjects with regard
to qualifying for exemptions.
Please also note that courses undertaken at VET sector level
eg: Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma, or courses
completed "in-house" such as those taught by Victoria
Police, do not satisfy the requirements of credit transfer.
Institute policy on
credit transfer between VET sector and higher education
courses.
Students who have completed an undergraduate program at
the Australian Institute of Public Safety are not eligible
to apply for the Graduate programs.
Articulation from Graduate Certificates to Graduate
Diplomas
If accepted into the courses, students who wish to undertake
the Diploma programs will enrol initially in the Certificate
and articulate into the Diploma.
Those eligible for entry into the Diplomas ie: applicants
who have an undergraduate degree, will be automatically
eligible to enter the Diploma upon successful completion
of the Certificate. These students may also exit the Program
with the Certificate if they choose not to continue.
Applicants who are accepted into the Certificate Programs
based on work/professional experience may articulate into
the Diploma provided they achieve a Credit average in all
enrolled Certificate subjects.
Students who go on to undertake the Diploma courses are
not eligible to receive two qualifications ie: students
will receive either a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma
upon satisfactory completion of the course.
