English Language
An appropriate command of written and spoken English is vital for successful studies in Australia. Our programs are taught in English, are often academic in nature and require you to satisfy both written and spoken English during assessments.
All applicants must meet the English language requirements of our Institute to be eligible to be offered a place in any of our courses.
Certified documentary evidence of English language proficiency must be submitted with your application, and applications cannot be considered without it. If you are currently studying Year 12 in Victoria, no documentary evidence is required.
English language requirements are satisfied in a number of ways, including:
- Satisfactorily completing secondary studies in a country where English is the official language and gaining a satisfactory pass in a final year English subject approved by MEG. (Applicants from countries with more than one official language may be required to meet IELTS requirements.) This category includes students who are studying year 12 in Australia.
- Obtain a grade of at least C in the General Paper of General Certificate of Education AO Level.
- Satisfactorily completing the final two years of secondary studies in an approved secondary school with English as the language of instruction and gaining a satisfactory pass in English in the final year.
- Within the last 2 years completed at least the first year of an approved tertiary program taught and assessed in the English language in an institution where English is the language of instruction and assessment for the entire institution. Please provide formal advice from the institution to support your claim that you have satisfied this requirement.
- Undertaken English studies equivalent to the above.
- If none of the above categories apply to you, and you are from a country where English is not the official language, you must provide the results of an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test taken in the 24 months preceding application and achieving an appropriate overall band score.
- A certified copy of your IELTS test score must be included with your application.
- For detailed information about the IELTS tests, dates for testing and locations of testing centres, refer to the IELTS website [http://www.ielts.org]
