An excellent command of written English
is vital for undertaking any degree course at the Institute.
The courses are academic in nature and all assessment tasks
involve a high level of English proficiency.
Certified documentary evidence of English language proficiency
must be submitted with your application, and applications
will not be considered without it. If you are currently
studying Year 12 in Victoria or a degree at an Australian
university no documentary evidence is required.
Applicants
may satisfy the English language requirements in
a number of ways, including:
1. Provide the results of an IELTS (International English
Language Testing System) test taken in the 24 months preceding
application and achieving an overall band score of at least
6.0. Provide certified copies of all results.
2. Satisfactorily completing secondary studies in a country
where English is the official language and gaining a satisfactory
pass in an final year English subject approved by the Institute.
(Applicants from countries with more than one official language
may be required to meet IELTS requirements.) This category
includes students who are studying year 12 in Australia.
3. Obtain a grade of at least C in the General Paper of
General Certificate of Education AO Level.
4. Satisfactorily completing the final two years of secondary
studies in an approved secondary school with English as
the language of instruction and gaining a satisfactory pass
in English in the final year.
5. Within the last 2 years completed at least the first
year of an approved tertiary program taught and assessed
in the English language in an institution where English
is the language of instruction and assessment for the entire
institution. Please provide formal advice from the institution
to support your claim that you have satisfied this requirement.
6. Undertaken English studies equivalent to the above.
A certified copy of your IELTS test score must be included
with your application.
