Application Process
 

Please follow the steps below which apply to your status as an Overseas Applicant.

A. VICTORIAN YEAR 12

Overseas students who are currently studying the VCE or IB at a Victorian secondary school:

  • Apply in the same way as any other current year 12 student ie: through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre. Full details regarding the VTAC application process may be found at www.vtac.edu.au or by purchasing the VTAC Guide from a newsagent; and
  • Complete and submit an AIPS Overseas Student Application Form to the Institute by mid September 2007.
  • You will be notified of an offer by VTAC in the first round of offers in January 2008, and will receive offer acceptance information from the Institute at the same time (see below).

B. ALL OTHER OVERSEAS APPLICANTS

  • Apply directly to the Institute, by completing and submitting an AIPS Overseas Student Application Form by mid September 2007. This form can either be downloaded from this page at the beginning of August, or obtained by contacting the Prospective Student Officer on +61 3 8327 2600 or degrees@aips.edu.au
  • Include with your application all relevant documentation to support your application ie: academic results and qualifications, including Year 12 results, and a AUD$500.00 application fee.
  • If required, include with your application a certified copy of the results of your IELTS test. Refer to the English Language Requirements page for more information.
  • Applicants will be notified by letter in mid-January regarding the success of their application. Overseas applicants who receive an offer from the Institute will be sent an Offer Acceptance Form and information.
  • Accept the offer by completing the Acceptance and Payment Agreement Form, paying the required fees, and including your Pre-visa assessment results (if applicable).
  • Upon payment of fees, the Institute will send you an:
    an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment;
    an official receipt for payment of your fees;
    a letter of acceptance; and
    important information about enrolment, orientation, semester dates, housing options etc.
  • Apply to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for a Temporary Student Visa. Refer to the DIAC website at http://www.immi.gov.au/students/
    for detailed information regarding the visa application process.
  • If you require to be met at the airport and/or temporary accommodation on arrival in Melbourne, advise the Institute at least one week prior to departure.
  • Attend enrolment - for Overseas Students, enrolments are held in mid to late February.

Applications will NOT be considered unless accompanied by the required supporting documentation.
